This is the first annual winter fat bike festival fundraiser hosted by the XCBC Performance Mountain Bike Team (click the link for info about who we are). The race will be held at West Bragg Creek trails. All proceeds will go directly towards the riders in our program – race entry fees and a training camp. Thank you for supporting the development of our young riders!

Race Details

How Fast is Your Fatty?

  • 6 km course (See course details)
  • As many laps as you can complete in 3 hours
  • Race start – 11 AM
  • Final lap start cut-off – 2 PM

XC Ski Race for the Kids

  • Kids xc ski races @ noon
  • All kids are welcome to join in on their skis – classic or skate!
  • Chickadee loop set up for some fun low-key racing.
  • a $5 XCBC membership gets your kids in the races. You can also bring $5 cash and sign the form onsite.

Package Pick-Up

  • Friday @ Bow Cycle, Calgary 4-6pm
  • Saturday on-site (West Bragg Creek Trails) @ 10am

Bikes, Equipment & Rules

  • We are following the WBCTA guidelines (see link)
  • Ride the Wide – 3.7 inches.
  • No E-bike category
  • Tech and feed support in lap/start/finish area only.

Course Details

The course is located on public land. All trails are open to the public. Please expect non-racers to be out riding and please behave respectfully!  We want to continue this event and maintain a positive image! Be courteous, slow down, and call out if you are passing. Marshals will direct the public during the race. No littering on course!

West Bragg Creek Day Use Area

Parking

  • Please use Day Use Area parking lot.
  • You are required to have a Kananaskis Conservation Pass to park at West Bragg Creek Day Use Area. Purchase the pass online here.

Washrooms

There are many public washrooms located in the parking lot.

Mechanical Zone

The race will have a mechanical zone and neutral bike mechanics to assist riders. In the mechanical zone you can leave spare wheels, bikes, or anything else you might need. Make sure you label your stuff and collect it after your race. XCBC will not be held responsible for anything lost or stolen. Tech and feed support in lap/start/finish area only.

First Aid/Medical

We will have volunteers trained in First-Aid on site. Please identify yourself to the organizer if you need assistance.
